A fuzzy approach to decision analysis on the distribution of milk type A
Abstract
The physical distribution is an important logistics function that adds value to the final customer. The main aim of this paper has been to develop a model for decision making to determine the most profitable places for the milk distribution from a distribution center. As a method to support this decision, it has been proposed the use of fuzzy rule-based system in order to develop a mathematical model that would meet the milk distribution scenarios to six segments served by a large milk processing type A, such as: large retailers, small and medium supermarkets, groceries, bakeries, industries and home deliveries. Computer simulations have been performed, analyzed and compared to real data. As main results have a model that has generated a distribution of revenues about 1.5% higher than the current one, as well as market segments whose distribution was more lucrative.
